linux.cf has stuff in it like:

#define OSName			Linux
#define OSVendor		/**/
#define OSMajorVersion		1
#define OSMinorVersion		2
#define OSTeenyVersion		1

Of course, this won't change as the system is upgraded.

I think we could at least provide for recognizing the version of the
running kernel...  [Obviously, cross-compilation introduces too many
options to be dealt with automatically.]

I suppose it would be really ideal to have a gnu configure script set
up to build linux.cf...
