Description: This client used to be one of the most popular IRC clients, but as development fell back, so did its popularity, especially as new clients started emerging. This client has original scripting methods, called PILs. The coding resembles Delphi and there is support for dialogs. This client has some bugs and the author unfortunately did not release any bug fixes. PIRCH98 has some original features and ASCII lovers will like this client. Unfortunately there are very little scripts available for PIRCH98. Thanks to Captive of #pirch on UnderNet for helping me understand PIRCH98 better.

Description: Up to a 27th April 2000 I could have said that this client is dead. However Adrian Cable has given the source code to Jesse McGrew, author of the BiRC client, so that he could continue developing this great client. You will find audio and video chat in Visual IRC as well as fast file-transfer protocols. What you should not expect is a multimedia conferencing tool. Scripting is similar to BASIC, C, VPL and ircII's scripting language. Also included is a program which converts Delphi dialogs into ViRC scripts.

Title: WiRC 2.03

Description: WiRC is one of youngest IRC clients. It was started the 20th of September 1999 and has been under development since. Inspired from ViRC, XiRCON and mIRC, I found WiRC to be quite user-friendly. The readme file clearly stats that 'this release of WiRC is pretty incomplete and very early'. Its scripting is limited to aliases at the moment, but you can create plugins (DLLs) for use with WiRC. WiRC 2.00's IRC engine has been rebuilt for more power and stability. Worth a check. WiRC is postcardware, which basically means that it's free, but the author would be pleased if you could send him a postcard from your country.
