Zmodems DALnet Auto-Identifier

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Zmodems DALnet Auto-Identifier 1.5

Format: Win OS

Description: mIRC addon with dialog interface that keeps track of your nicks and your nickname password for DALnet. It will automatically identify if you are prompted for the password while using a nick that is on its list. The author included a nice readme file with setup instructions and a description of the various functions of the script. Installation is quick and clean. You can access the options of the script through the popup menus. The script seems to work for the most part. The dialogs are fairly obvious and the author also employed some error checking, but he could have added a bit more ... for example, currently, it's possible to add nicks with spaces. If you do, it won't even be possible to remove them easily afterwards. Some of the items for the dialog also seem to run a bit into each other. When changing from another window back to the dialog, you'll notice that certain edges of the dialog items will be blurred. The coding has been much improved. However, IMHO, a real nickname manager or even

Zmodems Find File

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Zmodems Find File 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog interface that is used for finding files (doh :) Very nice readme file with detailed setup instructions. The addon is easily installed. You just need to unzip it somewhere and load the *.mrc file. :) Once that is done, use the popup menus to access the dialog window. You will be asked to input information in two fields. (1) the string to search forand (2) the directory in which to search for. The script will then display the results in the box below. Error checking is existent .. you cannot perform a search without first entering a directory. You can also perform wildcard searched, e.g.: *.mrc. It's also possible to clear all the fields. The addon works pretty well from what I can tell. No errors were encountered while I ran through it. However, during a search, your entire mIRC will be frozen. It would be nice if you could halt the script in the middle, but since this is based on $findfile() I wonder if that's possible. The author might also want to think about an opt

Zmodems IP2NICK

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Zmodems IP2NICK 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog interface that helps you to find the person/people on a certain IP address. You must be on the same network as them and they must be set to -i (something that the author forgot to mention). The addon has some great documentation, both as a readme file and some additional information in a custom window inside the script. There is popup support and the dialog is easy enough to use. The script works well enough, but only if the people you are looking for aren't set to the invisible (+i) mode. On a network such as DALnet where the servers set you to +i on connect, this script likely won't turn up much. Another point I noticed was that the script doesn't notice when it's supposed to be finished. If you have finished your search and type in another /who search request manually, the script will still display the information in the dialog instead of ignoring it. The only way around that is to click on the STOP button before you start your new search. At the moment, the entire

anti-ban

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: anti-ban 2

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that will react in a manner of choice when you get banned in a channel. The script is relatively easy to use and is a major improvement on the last version. As before, the script contains a readme.txt file that explains how to load the script and how to set up its configuration. It is easy to use, with all of the options displayed in a well working dialog window. Everything seems to work well. The author even checks to see if you have set a custom message or not. If you have not, he will set the default one back for you. There seems to be a little debugging left in the script that the author forgot to remove. It echos into the Status window. The coding itself is satisfactory. There are still things that could be improved such as silent timers, using "On *:EVENT:" instead of "On 1:EVENT:" and the removal of all slashes within remotes. I also find that there's the unnecessary use of evaluation brackets [], but that is a minor point. All in all, a reasonably well done script.

bmp2html

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: bmp2html 0.98

Format: Win OS

Description: Another version of the neat little addon that converts bmp files into html files. Documentation is provided in the form a brief readme file and at the top of the actual remote file. The settings are configured through the dialog window that you can pop up by using the "/bmp2html". I tested the script with two different files and while the dimensions are a little off sometimes, the addon seems to work pretty well. While transforming the file, the script can take quite a bit of time. However, it doesn't freeze up mIRC and still allow you to perform other tasks. :o) The coding looks good, nice use of local aliases and and well chosen variable names. Good job.
