SMF Away Sys

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: SMF Away Sys 4.11

Format: Win OS

Description: Away script addon with dialog interface. Has silent away option, different possible away reasons to chose from (of your choice), pager, message logger, etc. The addon has a very structured set of instructions for installing the script in the readme file. It also has a list of updates of the recent version in addition to contact information, etc. Very nice. Installing should be no problem ... when you first load the addon, the settings dialog will pop up and allow you to enter everything that is required. The addon is pretty customizable, allowing you to change the various messages of the script. The dialogs are clean and easy to navigate. The popups are dynamic, bonus points. :o) While using the script I didn't run into any bugs or any problems except for one small thing, but then, I have to admit that I was looking for it. You have an auto-quit after a certain amount of idle-time option. If you input the value 0 hours, then the script will not quit at the correct amount of time .. I believe i

SMF Lagbar

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: SMF Lagbar 2

Format: Win OS

Description: Very nice lag detector/display addon with hovering custom window. The author took the time to write a fairly complete readme file. The script is easily installed by unzipping it somewhere and by loading the remote file. You can toggle the addon on/off using the menubar popups. :) Once it's on, the script will check your lag every X number of seconds, where X is 30 by default. However, you can chose to set that to something else. The lag indicator itself takes up very little space and hovers somewhere in your mIRC window. You can chose to drag it wherever you wish, add a border or otherwise. The addon also has the option of putting down your last 15 lagcheck results into a chart. While running through the script I didn't encounter any error message whatsoever. The addon also appeared to work quite well. The popup indicates the current status of the lagbar, if you don't happen to see it hovering around somewhere. The coding is compact and fairly well written. I'd have liked to see local aliases

SMF Mediaplayer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: SMF Mediaplayer 8.5

Format: Win OS

Description: A MediaPlayer script made in mIRC. Comes with a really nice GUI with a great looking skin. The author says that the addon will automatically load up the 2nd addon file and configuration screen when the script is loaded. This does not happen, you need to load the second file yourself. You can find the menu popups in the Menubar. Load the 'Configuration' first. Once in there, you can configure everything that will allow the addon to work correctly. The addon comes equipped: enabled to play MP3's, Midis, Waves and even Cds. You can do all sorts of stuff with this addon if you are a real 'sound' guru. It lacks a few features, though: Deleting Files, Renaming Files, Copying Files, etc. Those are some features that I would look forward to in a media player type addon. Also, I would like the ability to load new skins. I noticed a few bugs along the way, though. For instance, if your mp3 player happens to be Winamp, which mine is, and it's installed to the C:\Program Files\Winamp dir, the addon will h

SMF Quickmenu

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: SMF Quickmenu 3.16

Format: Win OS

Description: Rather interesting addon that creates a little custom window with different buttons (with an "icon" if you'd like) and that allows you to make shortcuts to certain functions with a dialog window. By clicking the button in question, the corresponding action will be performed (for example, open a program, open a *.txt file, play a mp3/wav/midi file, etc.) While the author did make an effort to include sufficient documentation through two text files (one for installation and for other general help), I found it to be insufficient. At the beginning I didn't even know what the purpose of the script was. ;) But once figured out, the dialogs make the addon easy to use. This is an aspect that was mentioned in the help.txt file, however it caused me considerable grief. At the beginning, the little custom window follows the mouse everywhere, to the point where I was forced to close mIRC in order to reset the script. I don't know how this is set up or why this "feature" (more like pain in the neck *wink*)

SMF Server Cuts

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: SMF Server Cuts 1.4

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog support (reachable through popups) that allows you to keep a list of servers, connect them by double-clicking on the one of your choice and even import servers from *.ini files such as servers.ini - the default mIRC server file. The author included some very nice installation and help files. The instructions are clean and precise, easy to follow and understand. At the beginning, the purpose of the script may not be clear, but that is very soon remedied. From what I can tell, most of the script seems to work just fine. However, there are a few problems with the important process. For example, it has problems with servers that are grouped in the servers.ini file. If you double clicking on them, you'll get something like: "[21:17] *** Connecting to wildfire.magicstar.net6667GROUP (6667)". The coding seems to be alright. The code is mostly very much compacted on a single line, so it's very hard to read. It might be possible to use local variables for the loops in the futur
