MFC Trigger Wizard

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: MFC Trigger Wizard

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog interface that allows you to make your custom triggers to have them do one of the following things: Send a channel message, send a private a message, send a message to all channels or to send a file. All the triggers will react to channel messages. There weren't any setup instructions. When you first load the script, you have to put it into your main mIRC folder as it will otherwise generate an error. Basically, it loads itself for the first time, sets a variable, writes to a file (or creates it) and then reloads the main script file. The actual process of making triggers seems to work well enough. However, after you create a trigger it's supposed to show up in a pulldown menu. Yet the addon doesn't show your trigger unless it's preceded by a ! sign (at least from what I can tell). But this "invisible" trigger will still work since it has been written to the trigger.mrc file. I would also like to point out to the author that currently, one is able to add several trigge

MP3 Player

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: MP3 Player 1

Format: Win OS

Description: This is an advanced mp3 addon with it's own built-in GUI. Very nice addon. First off, I'd like to point out the bad news first. To begin with, even though this is a very nice addon, it has many bugs. When first ran, after 5 minutes or so I got about 10 different errors. Many "goto" and "writeini" errors were among the errors. The coding, as far as I can tell, is very well written and the variables are weirdly named. But work none the less. I can tell the author has spent many hours working on this. The author also included a semi-detailed readme file. It gives information on loading, copyrights, bugs, and many other things. On a minor note, the constant use of commented out text, such as ";// so duration gets correct." gives the addon a better ability to read the code. Giving a little bit of information about what each selection and code-snip does. The author could have done a little more debugging and sent it to other people to be tested more extensively before being submitted. Also, If the a

MP3 System

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: MP3 System 3.3

Format: Win OS

Description: Nicely made mp3 player with dialog interface. Allows you to specify multiple mp3 directories and will list all the available mp3s. You can use the usual mIRC built-in controls for sounds (play, stop, pause, volume changes, etc.). Brief readme file but not much information. Popup support that allows you to open the dialog window. The script has a few other options, such as allowing you to play songs randomly. You can choose to show the songs only for yourself, in the channels that you are in or not at all. It also has a half-way playlist. You can queue mp3s but you cannot view a list of the mp3s in your queue or delete one of them. Also, when one of the files in your queue is played, it is not announced, even if you have the "display in channels" option checked. Beyond that, nice presentation but there are a few bugs .. one of them I already mentioned above and the other one concerns the placement and size of the various dialog items. Some overlap each other. This is not noticable unless you sw

MP3

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: MP3 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Another nice French addon by the author evil_dead. This MP3 player addon that allows you the basic functions of creating/playing a playlist, playing/stopping a mp3, play a mp3 on random. It allows you to manipulate your MP3 files to a certain extent: renaming, copying or erasing them. The documentation file gives you the basic instructions for installing the script. Once that has been done, all the options are to be configured in the dialog windows. You can reach the dialog window through the menu, status and channel popups. I didn't run into any bugs/errors while running the script. There is some nice error checking on the part of the author. Everything seems to be working here, so there's not much for me to say about it :o) The coding was quite presentable, being neat and easy to read. Variable names were well chosen and as I mentioned before, there was some good error checking. However, the author might consider removing the slashes in the addon (as they are completely unnecessary) and use

MSChatCoffeeCupAway

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: MSChatCoffeeCupAway 1.1

Format: Win OS

Description: Away addon that is primarily designed for imitating the away system on MSChat clients. "In MS Chat, when someone sets themselves Away, MS Chat sends an AWAY CTCP to others who are on the same channels. Then, a coffee cup is displayed next to their name on channel nicklists, on their screen, and everyone else's who is using MS Chat." The addon comes in the form of a *.mrc file which you can easily open using Notepad or directly load into the remote section. Installation instructions are displayed at the top of the remote file. The author also took pains to describe his script in detail and also commented (explained) the individual lines of code in his addon. The addon certainly does what it's supposed to do. I didn't find any bugs while running through the script. However, I certainly would not recommend this addon unless you are in the habit of chatting in channels where the user base uses MSChat in the great majority. Due to the nature of MSChat's away system, you might be forced to send an e
