Eptiks Nick Styler

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Eptiks Nick Styler 1.01

Format: Win OS

Description: Simple Nick Colourer/Styler that allows you to choose from several styles and a color of your choice. The configuration is done via the command /nicks. It allows you to choose from a style and a colour of your choice by double clicking in 2 custom windows. The problem with the custom windows is that not everyone has the same screensize. Therefore, you may have a lot of trouble seeing what is said in those windows unless you enlargen it. Unfortunately, with the window showing the colours, you cannot even move or resize it - which makes it very difficult to see some of the colours. The coding is done well enough, however with some styles, there are extra spaces between the nick and one end of the nick decoration, very likely due to a forgotten $

F-Serv Explorer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: F-Serv Explorer

Format: Win OS

Description: "This is a simple little script that allows you to point and click your way through Fservers. Change Directories, Download files, Send Files, check your Stats. All with a click of the mouse." Quoted directly from the readme file. =) Well, the author did take the time to write some fairly detailed documentation for their script. The script is easy to use, presented via custom windows, dialogs and popups. When you have a fileserver window open with someone, the script will automatically go into effect - the only thing that I find annoying is that it tiles all your windows and doesn't until them when the fserve is closed. There appear to be some bugs, but most things seem to work rather well. I kept getting errors such as "* /rline: invalid parameters" and "* Invalid format: $line (line 144, trader.mrc)" for example. The dialog window has some dynamic sections and I like the fact that the author also offers function key support if you wish to back up a directory with simply a keypress. The coding

FTP advertiser addon by Bock

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: FTP advertiser addon by Bock

Format: Win OS

Description: A FTP Advertiser addon which displays everything you could possibly want about your FTP site to certain channels. The script is configurable by an nice and easy to use dialog. The readme file is simple but gets the job done, though I would have liked it if it went on to describe the different features of the script. The script is configured via one main dialog window, which lets you set the IP, Port, Login/Pass, Comments, Max Users, almost anything that you would like to display about your FTP server. It also lets you select up to four channels to display the advertisement in - which is a lot better than some which just use every channel (which annoys people like me). The script itself has far to much white space and blank lines in it, along with the use of the / command prefix. Error checking is not evident in the script. If I don't specify any channel names, the script will break. Same for when I don't use numbers in the Ad Delay field. Most of these problems can be simply solved by changing

FastSearch

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: FastSearch 4

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that allows other people to search through your file contents, files or directory with triggers that you specify in the directories that you specify. While the author took pains to write documentation for the addon (it's in html format - I suggest unzipping everything into a seperate directory), I have to admit that it took me a while before I understood how this script was supposed to work. Perhaps a short description of the actual purpose at the beginning of the help file would be a good idea? Everything is worked out through custom windows and popup menus. The author did a good job of error checking and updating the information provided in the custom windows as far as I can tell. Everything is presentable and clean. You may customize the replies that the script sends out when it finds matches for the search in question. In order to be a bit secure, the addon included a feature that would enable you to hide the actual directory name where the file is located by allowing you to r

File Server Lock Protection Release

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: File Server Lock Protection Release 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that protects you from being flooded by the "dir" command when you are hosting a fileserver. Contains readme file along with setup instructions and contact information. You can turn the script on/off with certain aliases and also with the popup menu available in the menubar section. From what I can tell, the script seems to work fine. However, it requires to flooder to use 10+ "dir" commands in under 2 seconds ... to be frank, I don't think it isn't very efficient as a flood protection. :\ The coding is fine .. I do have a couple of suggestions though. There's a custom window that pops up at the very beginning .. how about allow it a titlebar so that you can close it easily? In addition, the popups could have been made dynamic for easier toggling of the on/off switch.
