Dialog progress indicator

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Dialog progress indicator 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to make progress meters for your scripts. It is based on dialogs. Well coded. All the instructions can be found in the readme.txt file on how to use it. It's not a stand-alone script and you can't really do anything with it unless you are planning on scripting something yourself. It is meant as a tool for those who would like progress meters for their own scripts. There are some slight bugs, but all in all, it works fairly well.

Dict plus

Title: Dict plus

Format: Win OS

Description: Nice compact addon script with dialog support that servs as a dictionary. Has various search methods and looks up the following databases: Webster's Dictionary, US Gazetteer, WordNet, Jargon File, FOLDOC (Free On-Line Dictionary Of Computing), Elements, Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary, Hitchcock's Bible Names Dictionary. Pretty straight forward readme file with setup instructions and a list of the databases (look above) that the addon supports. The script is easy to set up and easy to use ... simply use the "/dict" command to pop up the dialog. The script has various methods of allowing you search for the word or phrase in question ... I didn't run into any bugs while using the script. Everything seems to work very well, the addon is compact and the coding very well done. Nothing much for me to say beyond that. =)

Digital Clock

Title: Digital Clock 2

Format: Win OS

Description: This nifty little addon creates a digital clock right in your very own mIRC. It reminds me of the good old days of the Win 3.1 clock =) Alarm and shutdown function functions are also provided. It has a fair amount of features for a digital clock, and I especially like the option to shut down windows after a specified time (done using rundll.exe). Oh, and the shadow option was quite neat =). The readme file explained how to install and run the addon, so there really isn't much difficulty in getting this thing to work. My only real gripe with this addon is that there isn't a popup to make it a desktop window, as I usually just maxamise all my windows - which will mean instead of a tiny window for a digital clock you suddenly have a full sized window. The coding was nice, no real problems there. Overall this is quite a good addon for what it does. Good work =)

Title: Download Tracker 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Small and simple addon that logs the nick, filename and and date when a dcc get fails. The addon is easy to set up and the author also included a little readme file with installations instructions. In the script itself, you'll find more extensive explanations as to what the script does and the reasons for its creation. All the options are found in the MenuBar popups. It's basically composed of popups and the remote events necessary for it to work. :) Due to its simplicity, there's not much I can say about it. I feel that this is a very nice idea for a script but that it doesn't reach its full potential. There are a lot of features that could be added, both presentation wise and in the function itself. The coding could be improved a bit. There's an overuse of slashes (unnecessary in remotes) and IMHO, the echos could have been done a little more cleaner. The reading of the log file is dependant upon notepad.exe (which the author should probably change) and it's unnecessary to have after identif

DragonSkin

Title: DragonSkin 2

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that works like a "skin" for mIRC by adding BMP images. If you are familiar with WinAmp or some other programs, you might know what I'm talking about. Well, there really isn't much to say about this script. It's basically composed of the *.bmp image files and a simple On *:LOAD: remote. The author put a little documentation in a readme.txt file, but it doesn't really contain much information. The coding could have also been improved to include more information and to add an uninstall option. There were unnecessary slashes in the script. Note: Please keep in mind that this is not really a *script* in the strictest sense of the word. However, it was the first time that I've seen something like this and I see a lot of potential in this type of thing if the author is willing to work on it and expand it by adding a number of other options.
