DALnet Services Controller

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: DALnet Services Controller 3.22

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon for using services on DALnet. Provides support for NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ and StatServ through the form of custom windows and popup menus. Documentation is provided through the form of a readme file with misc. information as well as a windows help file regarding DALnet services. Script is easy to setup and all options are configurable through the popup menus. Note: If you are not using version 5.6, then an error message will be displayed. However, the addon will still continue to run. Perhaps the author should consider using $version < 5.6 instead. :o) From what I can tell while running through it, the addon works pretty well for the most part. The custom windows are clean and the commands indented according to type. There are a few things that could be improved upon, but then that's the case with every addon. For example, in the coding, I noticed that the author disables a group when a custom window is closed. Perhaps they should have specified which custom windows .. it's quite p

DBE

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: DBE 2.3

Format: Win OS

Description: DBE stands for Dialog Box Editor ... impressive little addon that allows you to create dialogs through a graphical interface. Quite buggy at the moment though. Very extensive readme file with setup instructions and detailed information on how to use the script. This is a *must read* before you try anything. The addon itself is supposed through aliases, popups and nearly everything is workable through popups, custom windows and dialogs. The addon seems to work well enough for the most part, eventhough buggy in several areas and inconvenient in others. But it's quite impressive over all, and certainly helps the newbie scripter who does not wish to attempt their first dialog ... or simply as a tool to easily draw out the outline of a dialog for even the more experienced scripters. The custom windows that are used by the addon are ones that don't have their own taskbar icon. In several cases, I had to minimize all my other windows or go into the WINDOW menu again to find them because I clicked on

DCC Logger

Title: DCC Logger 1

Format: Win OS

Description: An addon that logs all DCC Transfers and outputs some appropriate status about that transfer: Nickname, Time & Date of Transfer, Address for nick, Filename, File Size & Status (ie: Completed or Failed transfer type). The addon does leave a bit of room for improvement in a few areas. :-) Nothing too outrageous, though. The readme file was informative, but not too detailed. It left a few bits of information, such as installation instructions and a breif low-down on the addon itself. It also provided some contact information for getting ahold of the author. The bad thing about this addon is that it needs to be put in the *main* mIRC directory (Double-*UGGH!*). LOL I think a lot of people really dispise this as it can get very messy and clutter up your mIRC directory. I really don't like the idea that the variables are 'Set' rather than just created with 'Var' for temporary storage that clear themselves the moment the script has ran it's course. This will leave a mark in your variables (The script

DNS IP Tracer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: DNS IP Tracer 1.2

Format: Win OS

Description: mIRC addon script that allows you to "tracert" (aka traceroute) a certain IP using MS Dos. It intercepts the information, closes the window and then displays it in a custom window. The addon doesn't really have much documentation besides a few lines at the top of the remote file. Once installed, you use the /iptracer command to launch the entire process. A MS-DOS window is going to pop up and close itself. However, it's always going to be empty, so the natural tendency is to close it right away .. which is what you are not supposed to do. The script seems to work most of the time, but I run into trouble when I do more than one IP trace at a time or when the custom window gets closed prematurely. More error checking is therefore suggested. :) The coding is alright. Local aliases could have been used but the addon really doesn't have that much code so there isn't much to comment on. :)

DNS Plus

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: DNS Plus 0.1

Format: Win OS

Description: When you do a /dns on someone, it brings up a @dns window which displays the nick, hostname and ip address of whoever you performed the command on. The author included a readme.txt file that describes his script and also an explanation on how to load it. It starts working automatically and does not have an on/off switch. The script will simply redirect the information gotten with the /dns command to a custom window. It's the simple use of the On DNS event. As with Whois redirector of the same author, the script will erase any previous information that you may have had in the window. This one, however, will not leave the information even if a person or address you /dns'ed is not online. There are several redundant commands in the coding, things that could have been cut down with an alias. In addition, the author alias'ed out the /dns command itself and simply tells you to /dns . I don't really see why, but perhaps there's good reason that I'm missing. Suggestion for the author: Add some popup m
