Crypter

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Crypter 3

Format: Win OS

Description: mIRC addon with dialog interface and popup support that allows you to encrypt and decrypt messages using a certain password. It's possible to use the script's default password or make up your own. Several options included, such as automatically decrypting messages using the default pass. The readme file provided by the author is available both in normal TXT format and also in HTML format. It gives you contact information, a description of the addon and also setup instructions. As long as you are sure to unzip everything into the main mIRC directory (something that I was reluctant to do, due to the number of files), the installation should work just fine. You can access the script through the channel popups. You have the option of setting several custom encryption passwords. The also automatically decrypts text using the default password unless you ask it not to. I find it a pity that it was not possible to have the script automatically decrypt using a password of your choosing .. or if it was

Cuss Word Censor

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Cuss Word Censor 0.75

Format: Win OS

Description: Small addon that "censors" swear words by you or said by other people by changing it to "f*!*" for example. The addon includes a short readme file that instructs you on how to install the script, and it is fairly easy to use, manageable through the channel popups. The whole thing works enough but does have a major bug. If you put any sort of control codes inside the words then it will go through without being "censored". Further suggestions: The use of dynamic popups, local variables, the use of "haltdef" instead of "halt" and the use of "$readini mirc.ini" instead of assuming that the command character is "/". Unfortunately, the addon doesn't allow you to modify the list of words censored at this time. It's a nice idea, but it shows a lot more promise than what is currently available.

Custom Who

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Custom Who

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that displays the results of a /who search in a neat dialog window and which also allows you to easily get their IP numbers (through DNS) and to connect to their server with a button click. The addon has a short readme file with installation instructions and also a few guidelines on how to use it. Popup menus are conveniently available in the status, channel and menubar sections. The dialog interface is clean in addition to being easy to use and to understand. So far so good. There appear to be a few bugs in the script eventhough it works fairly well. For example, I would get "* /dialog: invalid parameters (line 211, who.mrc)" on occasion. Some error checking to see if the dialog window is already open or not might also be a good idea in order to prevent messages such as "* /dialog: 'who' name in use (line 48, who.mrc)". While the dialog stores all the information on the user such as the server they are on, the number of hops, their ident, etc. it doesn't remember if you have already DNS

CyberQuiz2

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: CyberQuiz2 2.1

Format: Win OS

Description: CyberQuiz2 is an addon that basically allows you to play a quiz game with users across your IRC connection (in certain channels, of course). The documentation gave no real explanation of how to 'set up' the addon. I basically took the default options and let it go from there. The good thing was that the dialogs showed you what certain options did when you selected them. I loaded the addon to a different directory other than my main mIRC folder. If you do the same, you will get this error: * /load: no such file 'c:\mirc\pxcore\SScript\CqzAlias.mrc' (line 190, cqzscript.mrc). Although the author states that this addon should be loaded into the main mIRC folder, I think that this is a problem that should have been fixed. After getting it all loaded, I noticed that the author did not silence all of the /load -rs commands that he used to load the other 3 script files for his addon. This can really annoy some people when they see all of those mIRC Echos to their status screen that report that the fi

Cybercow Away System

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Cybercow Away System

Format: Win OS

Description: Common away system with away nick option, optional wave file for pages and custom window to find out your status and settings, all controllable via popups in the menubar and channel popups. The author took pains to explain the script and how to use it in its readme.txt file, very nice. The options are easily accessable via the channel or menubar popups. When first loading the script you are prompted to enter your chosen away nick and a wave file for pages if you'd like. Whenever an option has been set, you get a nice echo from the script in the active window informing you of what you did. When you configure the settings for a repeating away message, you are obligated to enter the amount of time in seconds .. minutes would have been better. Unfortunately, the away message simply tells you what time you set away and not the amount of time you have been away - a feature usually excepted in an away system. A suggestion for the author: the use of dynamic popups would have also been nice :) The codi
