Cline Addon

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Cline Addon 1

Format: Win OS

Description: This is a configurable script for color coding your nicklist based on the nicks status in the channel; op, voiced, etc. The script's options are changed within a neatly laid out dialog, where the color of the nick for ops, voiced users, normal nicks and your nick can be set individually. The script is relatively bug free, however it would be nice if it supported Efnet's helper nicks. This could be easilly implemented as checking if a nick was a helper is as easy in mIRC as checking if they are an op.

Clipboard Viewer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Clipboard Viewer 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to view, clear and to write into the clipboard. The addon contains a readme.txt file and also a dialog help window. It is easily accessable via a command from the mIRC editbox or certain popup sections. That in its turn will pop up a clean dialog window with a large editbox and several buttons that allow you to close the window, get help, refresh the editbox, clear it, save text to it, etc. The script works reasonably well. There are a few little things that the authour could fix ... for example, if you choose to close the dialog window, the APPLY button should automatically have been put into effect. In addition, if the ClipBoard itself is empty and you ask the script to show the CB content, the editbox will display $null, something that could have been avoided with a simple if- statement. The coding was fair. It showed the use of local aliases and some identifiers that were underused (such as $colour). The use of another alias or variable might have saved a few bytes fr

Clock Addon

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Clock Addon 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Cute little clock addon that works through a small custom window in mIRC. The addon has some documentation both through an installation file and echos on LOAD. The author included installation instructions and also a few explanations on the script itself. The script has some visual aspects (mainly adding shadow to the letters or not) and can also work as an alarm clock (which will beep once). Everything is easily manageable through popups. The author might want to find a way to always keep the clock window on top of all other windows. At the moment, as soon as you click on another one, the clock goes into the background. I would also suggest an alarm clock that was more attention grabbing and configurable by the user. A single beep often gets lost. The coding is alright, but leaves room for improvement. The use of local variables and aliases is one that the author might consider. In addition, there appears to be an overuse of variables. But other than that, it's clean and demonstrates a very s

ColorNick

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: ColorNick 2.2

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog interface that allows you to colour the nicks of people that you have added to your list. Instead of adding them by nick, it adds them using their host, type 3. It's not possible to input your own host. The author did include a very nice readme file, with setup instructions and even a step by step tutorial on how to use certain functions of his script. Contact information has been provided as well. The addon should be installed into the main mIRC directory with the recursive folders preserved. While the addon does appear to work most of the time, there are several issues that need to be fixed. For example, the script should only be installed while you are actually connected to an IRC server. The script has some problem in allowing you to see what colours you have set for another user and then adding a new person. You need to click on the "Add" button first as to unselect your entry. In addition, since the script is already monitoring hosts, it would be nice if you coul

Colorviewer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Colorviewer 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Basically a simple addon with a dialog interface that allows you to write something with control codes and then preview the result in a custom window. Author gives setup instructions in a text file and provides a reason and other misc. information in a window that pops up when you first use the script. You can access the addon through the menubar or status popup menus. Basically, the addon is intended for easily writing out colourful stuff while online without having to ressort to /echo (I think the author gave writing colourful topics as an example). Well, the addon does work and it does what it is supposed to do, so there's nothing much to say about that. The addon is also too small to make an good call on the coding, but I think that it can be improved a little bit. All in all, not bad. :)
