PREMIERSHIP ROUND-UP

TOP SCORERS
WITH AT most two matches left, the race to finish top of the Premiership goalscoring charts is desperately close. Though John Hartson leads the overall figures, tied with Andy Cole, the West Ham man is suspended for the rest of the season. When it comes to the top scorer just in league games, it's a three-way tie, between Dion Dublin, Chris Sutton and Michael Owen with the Liverpool man having one extra game.

COVENTRY
Dion Dublin's penalty in the 2-0 win over Coventry left him tied with Chris Sutton and Michael Owen at the top of the FA Carling Premiership scoring charts on 17 goals and being linked with a move to join Sutton at Blackburn. But the centre-forward is refusing to the move, and concentrating on what a good season he's had at Highfield Road: ''I would have been very happy with 17 goals at the start of the season. It's been my best season ever. Yet I don't want people to think I am the only scorer here. It's been down to some great competition here with Darren Huckerby and Noel Whelan both pushing me, and one of the strengths of the side is that lots of people here get goals.''

FULHAM
Ray Wilkins' side will play the first leg of their Division Two play-off semi-final with Grimsby Town at home on Saturday.
It will be an all-ticket match at Craven Cottage and it's being played on the Saturday because on Sunday Chelsea are at home to Bolton in the Premiership.
Tickets have gone on sale at Craven Cottage for Saturday's game and the teams meet in the second leg at Blundell Park on Wednesday May 13.

PLYMOUTH
Argyle's top-scorer Carlo Corazzin and joint Player of the Year Martin Barlow are two of a handful of players out of contract this summer.
Argyle have been relegated for the second time in four seasons following the emotional 2-1 defeat at Burnley and could face even more upset over the coming months with the loss of players under the Bosman ruling that makes them free agents.
Canadian international Corazzin, who has hit 17 goals, and Barlow have alrady been linked with a number of clubs as have Chris Billy, Paul Williams and defender Richard Logan.

WATFORD
The Division Two champions are hoping that their utility player Steve Palmer, formerly with Ipswich, could get into The Guinness Book Of Records.
This season Palmer has worn every shirt between one and 14 in playing for the Hornets. He ended the campaign on Saturday wearing Number nine to complete the full set and a club official said: ''We have certainly not heard of this happening before.''

BARNET
The club's Third Division play-off semi-final first leg tie against Colchester at Underhill next Sunday will be an all ticket affair with a 1.30pm kick-off.
John Still's side capped a marvellous first season for him by clinching seventh place despite a 2-1 defeat at Rochdale, which means the Bees have only taken one point out of their last 15.
However, Rotherham's 5-2 drubbing at champions Notts County was enough to begin the celebrations of Barnet's 500 travelling fans in Lancashire.

CHESTER
Chester goalkeeper Wayne Brown is being tipped for the top by his manager Kevin Ratcliffe.
The City boss has allowed the experienced Ronnie Sinclair to leave on a free transfer as he places his faith in Brown.
Ratcliffe revealed: There's no reason why Wayne can't be the next big player to move on and do something big in the game. He has got all the credentials.

SCOTTISH ROUND-UP

CELTIC
CELTIC go into their crucial title clash against St Johnstone on Saturday with suggestions that their players could be cracking up under the strain. Wim Jansen's side were only seven minutes away from lifting their first championship in 10 years after Simon Donnelly's 35th-minute strike against Dunfermline. But 20-year-old substitute Craig Faulconbridge, on-loan from Coventry, deprived Celtic of two points with a looping header in the 83rd minute.
Jansen's men are two points clear of Rangers, who visit Dundee United on Saturday, with 90 minutes of league football remaining.
Dunfermline's Scotland B striker Andy Smith believes the tension might be getting too much for some of Celtic's players. He made a point of going to the Celtic fans to try and wind them up after Faulconbridge's equaliser. Smith said: "I don't think Celtic deserve to win but they must still be favourites for the title. Rangers must be kicking themselves at losing to Kilmarnock on Saturday after our result against Dunfermline."
