Introduction

Welcome to the very first issue of Amithyst. This is a bi-monthly electronic magazine (e- mag or e-zine) that is just like a normal mag, but on the Internet and various other places.

In Amithyst you will find various articles on our five main themes: SF, horror, CGI, the supernatural and the Amiga computer. Many of these articles will be done by us (Electrorage, The Insane Limits and Noddy Four-Fingers), but this magazine is not going to stay very big if we don't get any help from you, our readers. We need news, features, short stories, pictures, interviews - just about anything that can be reproduced on a web page, as long as it fits one of our five main themes. See the Submissions section for more details on sending us work.

We plan to gradually make Amithyst bigger and better, and maybe make it monthly if we get enough submissions (hint, hint!).

You can navigate through the mag in just the same way as any other website, but also in the same way as you would look through a real life mag. The first page is a contents page, and clicking on any of the features' buttons should take you straight to it. Once you're on a page there will be three links at the top and the bottom of the page, allowing you to go back to the contents page, move to the next page or back to the previous page. This way you can flick through the pages in order, just like with a real magazine.

There are no real requirements for this site, as it doesn't use frames or JavaScript, except for a small bit of Java on the contents page, which won't be there if your browser doesn't support it, but you won't miss much (just a last updated display and a countdown to the next issue). It is advised that you use as many colours as possible in your display settings when viewing the gallery section, or other pages with larger pictures in.

One last thing: we are always looking for regular contributors to the mag, who we can depend on producing something each and every issue. So if you think you'd be able to do some feature or article every two months for us and become part of the crew, get in contact. You won't get a single penny out of it, but neither do we. You might get more famous and develop an name for yourself though, and it can't look too bad on a CV either.
