Well, after months of speculation it has finally been announced that the Amiga is going to get Myst. It is maybe a surprise who it is coming from, Clickboom ring any bells?? Yes thats right the makers of the excellent Capital Punishment are converting Myst to the Amiga....
Myst is the best selling CD-ROM EVER and it is excellent news that Amiga users are going to be able to play it. The game has been converted to nearly every format available, apart from the Amiga, until now. As you probably know the game is CD-ROM only, there is no chance of a disk version of this so if you want to play it you are going to have to buy a CD-ROM drive.
Clcikboom are not going for any old conversion, the game will support many of the features that makes the amiga the computer is it. The game will be OS-Friendly, Fully-Multitasking. It will work in Hi-Res screenmodes, supporting both graphic cards and AGA, in both Multisync and interlaced resolutions.
Currently the actual machine specs that the game will require are not %100 sure, but you can be sure that is will need at least:- CD-ROM Drive, 68030, 4Mb of Fast RAM, AGA or graphics card. Even at this early stage, however, it is reccomended that you have an 68040 and 8Mb RAM. This is probably going to be the highest machine requirement for an Amiga game, but believe me Myst is a game worth upgrading for.
For now just take a look at the screenshots on this page, the game will be available in Summer '97, with demos being available in the not too distant future.
Things are once again looking up!!!
