Maim & Mangle
As I told you a few weeks a go the development of Maim & Mangle has been
restarted. I have now come across more detailed information about what the
developers Deimos Designs have planned for the game.
As many of you may no it is a Real-Time strategy game inspired by Dune2 (Not a
Command & Conquer clone ;). Like Dune2 you will have the choice of joining one
of three different factions, in each faction there are several different
charactors for you to choose from all with different skills, the skill level in
the game will be decided by which charactor you pick.
The game will use a command interface based around the Dune2 interface, it will,
however, be much improved making it much easier to command your troops etc.
Things could get very hectic in Dune2 at times due to the interface not being as
good as it could have been, Maim & Mangle has picked up on the bad points and
improved it.
Also like in Dune2 each faction in the game will have units that are only
available to them, this is on top of the common types of buildings and units that are available to all.
Also, R&D will play a big part in the game, allowing for different strategies, however, unlike
other games this will not be exhaustable.
Another massive plus point for the game is that it will include TCP support so
you can play against friends over the internet, this is something that people
have been demanding in games recently and it is good to see authors trying to
support it. The game will also be fully OS compliant, meaning full
multi-tasking, and there will also be support for graphics card users. The
game will also try to take advantage of the Amiga Software and Hardware as much
as possible, so be ready for some exciting surprises.
The game will be receiving a commercial release on a CD only format sometime
towards the end of the year.
