Foundation is a new real-time strategy game along the lines of The Stettlers, Command & Conquer and Warcraft2 but with many new features not found in these games. The game was originally intended for disk and CD versions although it is looking more and more like it will be released on CD only now, this may change though.

The game already boasts many features, even in this early stage of development. One of the big features that the game offers is a 2 player option. To allow this the screen splits in two vertically, you can between just having the two players battling against each other or also include some computer opponents to spice up the action. Of course there is plenty of scope for the single player with them not only being able to battle against upto three computer opponents but also being able to take part in missions. The game will also tutorial missions allowing the player to get into the game easily.

I said earlier that the game is somewhat similer to The Settlers, well one part of the game that is a hugh advancement on this game is the combat part. The author has tried his best to make the combat a much bigger part in the game then it is in the Settlers, with the player being able to make the characters in the game attack, loot, rob and torch buildings as well as being able to cast spells and create viruses, there will also be some advanced war stratagies included.

Another big part of the game is the detail that it goes into, small things like characters changing with age and experience, massive research/improvement options, the ability to keep track of characters from birth to death and being able to find out information about each character such as what they are carrying, health, morale, age, where there going, place of work and much, much more. And when you consider that there will be over 20000 different names in the game you'll should realise how big this game actually is.

As you can see from the screenshots the graphics are not being forgot about either. Not only will you have a choice of screenmodes and amount of colours on screen, but you can also changes the size of the actual play screen within these mode, so for example you could have a 320x200 play screen on a screenmode of 640x512. The sound is also going be a big part if the game with many megs of speech and sound effects included

Hopefully the game will also include CyberGFX support although this is undecided yet, it depends on how easy it is to do without the programmer owning a GFX card to test it on. There may also be support for TCP/IP which is excellent news.

By now I'm quite sure that you can't wait for the release of this game, well your gonna have to wait a while as it is only 50% complete at the moment and won't be released until Autumn '97. New features are being added all the time so expect the game to get to get much better before release.
