Out Soon!!!

I have been imformed by a reliable source that Championship Manager 2 will finally be released on the Amiga. It was in the final testing stages last week and if all went to plan the mastering should have taken place on the Saturday just gone. This means that it's release could be within the next few weeks.

Championship Manager was a hugh hit on the Amiga, with the game probably reaching its peak in the '93 version. Since then many Amiga owners have been awaiting the release of the sequel. Many thought it would never be released as it's initial release date was nearly two years ago.

The game has been ported over from the PC CD-ROM version, they have managed to cut the game down to fit on only TWO disks! This is from an initial spec that took up 22 disks. On top of the two disks another two will be needed to for saved games, this is quite a drop from the PC version save which took up 20Mb.

The game will require a 2Mb Chip OCS Amiga minimum and at least 2 floppy drives. Also accoring to the Email I received the game ignores hard-drives, I'm not sire weather to take this as the game doesn't install on hard-drive at all, or that it just doesn't take advantage of them. If it is the first one then it is just plain stupid in my opinion as more people have hard-drives then those that have two floppy drives. The game also ignores the OS, so multi-tasking isn't supported, unlike the first one.

As for speed, the game runs quite fast and on an 68020 based A1200 it is comparable to the PC version on a 486. And since there is a hell of a lot of number crunching this is quite an achievement.

Hopefully I will have more solid info for you in the not too distant future...
