I'm not sure where it came from, but there was an "available" file in
/var/lib/dpkg/, and it was completely messed up. It looks like
perhaps pdpkg had a fit when it generated the list, with random
garbage and swapped key-value entries.
On the same note, there is a Packages file in debian.cps.cmich.edu
under /pub/debian/binary, and it is also completely messed up.
