Ah. host.conf has just been registered as a conffile by whatever it
was you were installing, which caused dpkg to prompt regardless. This
is a bug, and I think I've got the right fix. This will be in 1.0.4.
Thanks,
Ian.

I'm being prompted about a changed configuration file that's not really
changed:
Configuration file `/etc/host.conf'
==> File on system created by you or by a script.
==> File also in package provided by package maintainer.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
Z : background this process to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** host.conf (Y/I/N/O/Z) [default=N] ?
bash$ diff /etc/host.conf*
bash$ diff /etc/host.conf /etc/host.conf.dpkg-new
bash$ ls -l /etc/host.conf*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26 Aug 4 15:17 /etc/host.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 26 Dec 31 1969 /etc/host.conf.dpkg-new
bash$
