Yes it is harmless.

I've not been able to reproduce this on my system, hence I'm marking it done.

It's very strange because the script that's calling mv is supposed to
test to see if the file exists before trying to move it.

It's a configuration file for minicom that allows you to restrict the
users that can actually run the executable. The person who did the 1.6
package decided they belonged in /etc, while the original author and I
feel the proper location to be /var/lib/minicom. The postinst script now
checks to see if you have either of the two minicom configuration files in
/etc, and moves them to /var/lib/minicom (so you don't lose your
configuration info).

Like I said, I don't understand why it tried to move things if it wasn't
there.

Hi again :)

While installing minicom, I got the following (harmless?) error:

-----
[root@orion:11:/pub/linux/debian/debian-0.93/binary/comm] dpkg -i minicom-1.71
-2.deb
(Reading Database ... 9389 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace minicom (using minicom-1.71-2.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement minicom ...
Setting up minicom ...
mv: /etc/minicom.users: No such file or directory
Users must be in the ``dialout'' group to allow
access to the modem device.

Minicom configuration complete.
[root@orion:11:/pub/linux/debian/debian-0.93/binary/base/comm]

/etc/minicom.users? What's that for? In any case, it's still not there after
I've installed it...
