Hi,

Here is one problem with nvi-1.34-7: it gets a SEGV when TERM is not
defined in the environment or if it is an unknown terminal type (not
found in /etc/termcap). BTW: /etc/termcap does not define the "linux"
terminal type (terminfo is ok) - that's why I found the problem with
nvi (after booting the kernel built from source-1.2.13-2 which sets
TERM=linux by default).

I suggest to fix nvi to display some nice message (like elvis does)
instead of crashing if terminal type is unknown, and add "linux" as
alias for "console" in /etc/termcap.

I couldn't find part of what package is /etc/termcap - it probably
came from the base installation disks.

Marek

Your message didn't have a Package: line at the start (in the pseudo-header following the real mail header), or didn't have a psuedo-header at all.

This makes it much harder for us to categorise and deal with your problem report; please ensure that you say which package(s) and version(s) the problem is with next time. Some time in the future the problem reports system may start rejecting such messages.
