It looks like I was mistaken - below is <ncurses/term.h> from
1.9.4-0.  I shall reopen the bug report.

Yes, it is fixed in 1.9.4-0.  I'm closing this report.

The non-const-correctness of tigetstr is still in 1.9.4-0.

I believe this has been fixed in 1.9.4. Please let me know if that is not the

When compiling C++ programs with ncurses' term.h it is necessary to
use the
 extern "C" {
 }
construct oneself.  This is usually thought to be the responsibility
of the library maintainer, with something like ncurses - and indeed
the authors would appear to agree, since <ncurses.h> works fine.

I see:
