Package: ncurses-runtime
Version: 1.9.3-1

ncurses-runtime's /usr/bin/clear conflicts with base package tput's,
and it this is even more serious because it doesn't work. (at it
doesn't work on my machine).

So, anybody for another round of file-granularity checks? <sigh>

I guess it conflicts with all of tput... Is this the way it is
supposed to be?

NCurses tput replaces the termcap tput. Clear works on my system, as does
"reset", at least with my latest upload. What do you have $TERM set to,
and exactly what is happening?

The termcap-based tput will be going away, as will the ncurses-* packages.
H.J. is merging ncurses into libc. This means that ncurses becomes part of
the base at some time in the near future.

	Thanks

	Bruce

It seems my freshly compiled 1.2.11 is setting my terminal to dumb,
but a dumb terminal where tput's clear works, and where vi and emacs
work (which is why I hadn't tested the value $TERM before)... Setting
TERM to linux makes ncurses' binaries work.

Just to clarify this. Yes, H.J. is phasing out the old BSD curses and
termcap in favor of ncurses. However, H.J. is currently looking for
other maintainers to take over support of the extra libs which he has
traditionally packaged with libc. In fact, the latest BETA package
from H.J. only includes libc and libm.
