Andrew,
OK, but can you add a line to display the clock before setting it?
I believe this would help users know if they are making the correct choice
as they are prompted.

As for the default, Is the default audience one that is primarily
unix people or PC people? It's an interesting (possibly lengthy)
side-discussion that I am sure has been raised before, so if someone could
send me a note summarizing the conclusion that was reached by the Debian
group, I will try to avoid bringing it up again.

Regards,

It's the standard for UNIX systems to run their clock's at GMT and then
set your timezone according. I think it's correct to be the default
setting.

During the base configuration (/sbin/dsetup-tz script) when setting the
time zone, the current clock time is not displayed. This would reduce the
need for people to reconfigure if they guess wrongly.

The current time should be displayed by this script before setting a
timezone. The default of accepting the system clock as set to GMT may not
be the right choice either, at least it isn't in the US that I am aware.

I am using Debian 0.93R5 alpha, kernel version 1.2.1 and libc 4.6.27. I
have installed ONLY the base system for testing purposes.

Cheers,
