tempconverter

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: tempconverter 1.2

Format: Win OS

Description: Tempconverter is an addon that will convert between Farenheit & Celsius. It allows you to convert between the two, either converting Farenheit to Celsius, or vise-versa. Documentation provided is very strange and turned out to be no help at all upon the time when I was trying to load this addon and figure out what it did. It does not provide any information as to what this addon does/converts, nor does it give any instructions of how to use the addon or load it. Most of the commands need to be self-executed. The author didn't include any menus for ease of use, but I guess that's a personal choice (although most people don't like doing the commands themselves). The author did implement error checking for checking null values, but did not add checking to make sure that the values entered were numerical values only! :-) The addon does not give errors, though, it just displays empty information. This could be fixed in a later version of the addon. The same goes for the 'command-line' version. All

Title: vBNC 3.05

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to easily connect to your BNC without typing out all the commands. Appearantly, this version is mainly a bug fix so that it will work for ezbounce. (As I don't have access to that type of bouncer, I was unable to verify it). As with all the addons of the scripting team, the readme file could use a renaming :) However, this script does have a custom window that explains all the commands, their syntax, their use, etc. Yet, the script is not very easy to use at the beginning since you constantly have to refer back to the custom window to configure all your settings. Perhaps the authour would consider adding some popup support for the next version. Actually, even an editbox in the current instruction window would be nice. The addon works well enough, eventhough there are some options that could be changed. For example, this script only allows you to store the settings for a single BNC server, which would be unpractical if you were in the habit of using several of them, such a

Title: vHcline 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script with dialog interface that will colour the nicklist of a channel to reflect that a person is here, away, an op, a voice, an oper, a banned user or yourself. Actually also modifies the way that the nick is presented when they say or perform an action on the channel. There is no readme file included in the script, however, brief instructions can be found at the top of the *mrc file. Once loaded, the addon is automatically on. You can configure the settings by accessing the dialog through the channel popups. The script does appear to work from what I have seen. However, there are several bugs/performance, presentation or efficiency issues that are a bit annoying. For one, there should definitely have been more error checking in the script. The timers should have been silenced. When the script requests a /who output or a channel ban list, it should have been halted as to prevent flooding the status screen. The addon changes the presentation of the messages and actions sent to a channe

Title: velamp

Format: Win OS

Description: MP3 player controllable through a dialog interface. Options such as play list, favourites, random, play on location, etc. The author included a readme file with setup instructions, list of the script's features, possible problems that you may encounter, contact information etc. The script itself was also fairly easy to set up. Once the remote file was loaded you could reach the available dialogs (the player itself and the configuration panel) through popups or commands - the latter were displayed in an echo when you first loaded the script. For whatever reason, the loading actually seems to take up a lot of cpu. Something that might help a bit would be to use $scriptdir instead of $mircdir. The script seems to work well. You have the ability to add the current mp3 that you are playing to a favourite list, to modify this favourite list and to play a random mp3 among other things. Error checking has been worked upon, great ... :) Every once in a while, I would get the error message "* $read: err

xdcc server

Title: xdcc server 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Basic XDCC addon script with dialog interface. (XDCC is a system for offering files to other people through CTCP) . The addon's zip file is composed of two files, the script itself and a readme. The author included a set of simple installation instructions and also contact information in his readme. The script is easy to setup, consisting of simply loading the remote file. Once installed, the dialog window used for configuring the options will automatically pop up. There are also popup menu available in the Menubar and Channels sections, allowing you to read the dialog interface or to start advertising the XDCC server in the channels that you are currently on. The script itself probably needs a little bit more work. The dialog interface has some of its items overlap one another (especially the XDCC enabled/disabled section) which causes one of the items to only appear in part. The XDCC Dialog doesn't allow you to add scripts with spaces and it will also behave a little strangely if you try to
