syshelp mrc

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: syshelp mrc 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that is basically a set of popups. It provides a set of shortcuts for accessing various Windows programs (cdplayer, calculator, system monitor, etc.). It also has a number of preset help texts that you can chose to display to someone in an open channel or in a private query window. There isn't much help provided for the script except for a few lines of information at the top of the remote file. All you need to do is to load it into the remotes section. Warning: The script does advertise itself when you get a /ctcp yournick version. The advice provided appears to be sound for the most part. However, the addon itself could use a little bit more work. Dynamic popups and a bit more error checking would definitely not hurt. For instance, the "help" section of the popups are available even in the Status window. When you chose it, you will naturally get an error since you can't send it either to the nick or the channel. All in all, not that bad, but not very useful for the average/non-he

tabo FTP Client

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: tabo FTP Client 1.4

Format: Win OS

Description: Tabo FTP Client is a graphical telnet client written in mIRC. It includes all the standard features you would find in an FTP client. It has a 'Accounts' area which stores profiles for sites which you connect to frequently. It has the standard features for working with the FTP site; cd, mkdir, del, etc. It also has an anti-idle feature through the 'NOOP' command, which is nice, but sometimes ineffective. It also parses FTP URL's. The author implemented a nice feature which monitors the keyboard for FTP URL's and connects to them when it sees one. Another useful feature is directory filtering, so you can only view .html files for example. You can also queue file transfers. I did not see any oustanding bugs, beyond an occasional socket error when cancelling certain operations.

tabo irc client

Title: tabo irc client 0.9

Format: Win OS

Description: If I had to describe this script in one word, I would have to say speechless. This is, is my opinion, the most well put together multiple irc connection addon developed. You can connect to an unlimited number of servers while running one mirc. It also uses mirc's default settings. As well as some minor features, a nick completion and ctcp flood protection is implemented, as well as chopped full of dialog. The documentation for this script is nice, short, and well understandable. It includes the commands, features, and a small note about the author. I have found some minor bugs in the addon. You can not dcc chat a user from the addon. I get an "invalid parameters" when I try to dcc chat someone. When I try to dcc send a file from the addon, it does not display the file size, so I can not get the file. A few notes about the coding, it is very well written and organized. The author must have taken some time to write this, it comes with seven remote files that it loads. Other then that, I have no

taboFTP Client

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: taboFTP Client 2

Format: Win OS

Description: A very neat and intuitive FTP client. It supports multiple accounts and simultaneous connections, and it sports a easy going and welcoming interface. Clipboard monitoring, URL parsing and resumed downloads are supported. First off I have to say that the user interface is just amazing (helped along by DragonZap's MDX dll). It actually felt like a program, especially when I put mIRC into the system tray and had just the FTP windows open. The documentation was quite sufficient, however I'd probably like to see something like a HTML page or otherwise. However those who are familiar with any popular FTP client shouldn't have that much trouble finding how things work. An unload function was also included, which I felt was rather nice. There is nothing wrong with the coding, dlls, local variables and aliases are used. For the most part this script worked fine. However if I hit "connect" many times while not connected, the script gave up heaps of $null$null lines, and for some reason whenever I enter

telnet

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: telnet 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Very basic telnet addon. The script doesn't contain any documentation so you have to figure out that the command to use is /telnet. If you start connecting to a host, it will pop up a nice custom window. By using the popups available for this window you'll be able to disconnect, connect to another address, etc. The addon, unfortunately, does not support logging into anywhere. Therefore, it's going to be useless in many things that IRC is involved in. In addition, the "recent" connections section doesn't seem to be working. For what it's supposed to do, the script seems to work well enough, eventhough slightly buggy. The coding is alright, eventhough the author could have used "return" instead of "goto"'s and "halt"s. The use of local aliases wouldn't have hurt either. :)
