dna mp3 player

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: dna mp3 player 1.2

Format: Win OS

Description: Dialog mp3 script based on mIRC's new $mp3 identifier. Allows you to load files, complete directories, playlists and also has the usual play controls. Additional features include playing a random file, assigning the dialog to a function key, local/global or no broadcasting, etc. The readme file was okay with setup instructions, contact information, some tips on behalf of the author's, version information, etc. Once loaded, it will ask you whether you want to assign a function key to the dialog or not. You can access the mp3 dialog through popups. The addon works for the most part .. I really had some problems with the sorting though. I have about 50 something mp3s and waited for 4 minutes for the script to sort all the songs according to title. I finally got tired of it and used Ctrl + Break. 50 is actually a fairly modest number and IMHO, any sorting that takes longer than a minute for that is not efficient enough or just doesn't work. During the sorting process mIRC was frozen, disabling eve

drawwrap

Title: drawwrap 1

Format: Win OS

Description: A little addon that allows you to wrap text in the colour/size/font/etc. of your choice in a picture window. Basically an enhanced command and is not really useful unless you deal with picture windows and text on a regular basis. Not intented for newbies. The author included setup instructions and the syntax of the /drawwrap command. An example is also provided. As a sidenote, the author mentions that he created this addon because he thought that Khaled's $wrap is too slow. ;o) While running into the script, I encountered only one major bug. It appears that the -p switch won't work for me. -p is supposed to allow the processing of control codes within the string of text that is specified. However, I can't seem to get these control codes that I included in the command to display. Not good. Beyond that, I did not encounter any further problems. The script works quickly and allows you a reasonable control over the various ways that you may want your text to show up in the picture window. The code

dur

Title: dur 2.2

Format: Win OS

Description: Interesting addon that is essentially an extension of mIRC's built-in $duration(). The custom identifier is called $dur() and supports milliseconds, showing the duration in various formats (such as ressembling timestamp) and also has a bunch of other parameters/switched that you can use. Well, the documentation exists in the form of a text file with contact information, a list/description of all the parameters and a number of comments. This file is also an integral part of the remote file itself. It's pretty good ... it would have been nice if the author could have given a description what the script is at the very beginning though. I had to read a little bit before I realised what it was supposed to do. ;o) I tried the addon for a while. It appears to work for the most part but may not work as you want if you combine a few of the switches together. The author also mentioned that he didn't implement error checking for various reasons, however, I still feel that error checking is an important p

explorer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: explorer 1.4

Format: Win OS

Description: An addon that allows you to explore the contents of your disks via a simple, friendly dialog. You can perform rename, copy, delete, mkdir and move functions. A search feature is also included. To use the script is as simple as typing /explorer (directory). The documentation provides loading instructions as well as a brief history about itself. Just like the readme, the actual script is simple and easy to understand, and I couldn't help comparing it with WS_FTP's classic interface, so people shouldn't have a trouble using it. As far as functionality goes, this script performs the typical file management functions such as delete and copy with little to no problems. The search function is also a handy feature, with the author kindly including a pre-search warning about how it might lock up mIRC for a while, very nice =). There isn't much to say on the critical side. Its usefulness is somewhat limited, though its a good alternative to having to use explorer to do simplistic tasks. The search featu

ezServices

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: ezServices 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon with popups and custom windows that is designed for allowing you to easily interact with services on DALnet. Supports NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ and StatServ. The addon does have a readme file mainly composed of credits, installation instructions and a description of the script. The addon appears to be fairly easy to use. When you first use it, all the above mentioned services will be added to your notify list. The popups for interacting with services are not going to appear unless they happen to be online. The addon mainly provides popups for the various services commands for you in addition to redirecting all their notices into a custom window - which you can turn off btw. There's also an auto identification system. I have noticed that some of the popups don't work (note: the nickserv drop command). Since the script redirects all the services notices into the same window then, IMHO, it should also attempt to make it a bit more presentable. Depending on how you have things set, you co
