TNCrew MP3 Player

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: TNCrew MP3 Player

Format: Win OS

Description: MP3 Player that allows you to play a random file or a mp3 file of your choice. It gives you the option of toggling ctcp on play, load player on start and auto-request file. It also automatically creates a list of your MP3s for you (after prompting) and includes the @Locator and @Find options. You may also chose to create a M3U file or chose to edit one of your existing ones. Function key support is also provided. The script contains a readme.txt file with setup instructions, some information on the current version and also some troubleshooting. The script is relatively easy to use once you figure out that all the options are found in the popup menus. Upon first installation, the author echo's instructions on how to use the addon. Dialogs are used to present his configuration settings. Some of the bugs have been fixed, such as the one allowing me to put all the script files into a directory other than the main mIRC one. However, more error checking is still required in order to see if some the

Tachyon protection

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Tachyon protection 1

Format: Win OS

Description: A protection addon which can protect the channel against flooding, repeating, excess colours and swearing. Dialogs are used to configure the settings. Each channel can have its own configuration settings for each different kind of protection. Settings include the percentage caps to kick on, or the number of lines of repeating to listen for. However I felt that a few options were lacking, such as letting the user decide if they want to warn, kick, or ban depending on how many times the person has offended. You can do warnings for caps protection but not anything else. The readme file is easy to understand and setting up the script wasn't much of a problem. I did encounter a few errors relating to hash tables already existing. The only other problem I encountered was with the flood protection not seeming to like me, but other than that no real probs. Good use of code. In terms of suggestions, I'd like to see the dialogs combined into one along with the ability to choose how you react when someon

Tanks

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Tanks 0.939

Format: Win OS

Description: Cute little game where you can try to hit your opponent (or the computer, depending on who you are playing) by specifying the angle and force of your tank's missile. There is a wind factor and the landscape is randomly generated. I'm sure you've all played something similar in the past .. The documentation is good, describing the game and also its controls. The actual game is played through a custom window. You can chose the number of games you play, the skill level and the colour of your tank. The script appears to work just fine eventhough playing with someone else might freeze up your client a little bit on occasion. The coding looks pretty good with custom aliases, identifiers and all that so not many about comments about this section. Overall, I found the game to be a bit silly. It can get a bit tedious at the beginning since everyone is just sucessively hitting on "Enter" to launch the missiles and then repairing themselves at regular intervals. But it was well done ... Team Trivia Bot

Title: Team Trivia Bot 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Bored? Well take a look at this team based trivia bot full of weird, interesting, and often confusing questions. Trivia freaks beware =) A plentiful readme file is included to help you use the somewhat clunky interface, but it still took me a bit of thinking to get it working. I would have liked to have a popup that would let me start the game from there, without having to open up another IRC client. The questions provided a range of different levels of challenge, some easy, some out right horrible. I would have liked to see an option to select different sets (or genres) of questions, e.g. Sci-Fi, Music, General, etc... You can also set the time between questions, and the number of questions, but you can't set how long each question lasts for (1min), as the script gives out hints every 15 seconds. The coding was a bit old, it used goto loops and still had / prefixes on its var commands. Userlevel 1 (which borks on named userlevels) was also used instead of *. The bot was also easy to flood off

Telnet client

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Telnet client 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Telnet client for mIRC, uses custom windows as the interface. Readme file with some history/origin for the script and installation instructions are included. The script itself is activated through "/telnet host (optional port number)". Default port number would be 23. You can have multiple connections open. Well, I tested this script out and it isn't bad. The author takes care of its sockets by closing them when the window for telnet is closed, etc. I had some problems with the script aligning the list of files and otherwise presenting the commands that I inputted (sometimes my single word command would get spread out over several lines), but besides that, the addon does do what it supposed to do. The author already warns you that it cannot handle very complex commands or programs. The coding is well done, eventhough it's all too .. compressed, for my taste. *grin* But that's a personal preference. Since everything is put onto a single line, the coding isn't that easy to read. However, use of
