RCNickDecorator

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: RCNickDecorator 0.41

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that colours a nick if you use it anywhere in a sentence in a channel, query, fserve, or dcc chat window using a random one from a selection stored in a .txt file. This addon has a very nice readme.txt file that's fairly complete and that even includes version update information, possible problems, etc. in addition to the usual text to be found in a readme. The menu to turn the script on or off can be found in the popup menus of just about everywhere. The script doesn't work if you have other characters right next to a nick, which could be considered a good or a bad thing. The script can be easily used a nick styler for talking to someone. I had some problems with the directories on installation, so I suggest that the user could use "$scriptdir" instead of simple looking for the .txt file that contains all the possible styles in the mIRC directory. The coding is well done and displays the use of custom identifiers, dynamic popups, line wrap and consideration for settings in mIRC t

RIP Mp3

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: RIP Mp3 1

Format: Win OS

Description: MP3 addon that allows you to play mp3s and also serve them to other people through a trigger of your choice. Uses mIRC's built-in $mp3 identifier. Dialog interface. The author wrote a readme file with setup instructions and also another file with a description of the features of the script. These files can be accessed through the dialog window, which in itself, is also clean and well organized. Most of the features of the scripts appear to work fine. You have the usual player controls such as Play/Pause/Stop/Resume. Shuffling and repeating is also supported. You can save or load custom playlists. Single mp3s or entire directories can be added. I noticed that you can add a mp3 more than once to the playlist, but I guess that that might have been on purpose. All in all, not bad. A nice beginning. There are a few things that could be improved on the technical aspect of the script though. It would have been nice if the author could have used "while" for all his loops and renamed his aliases to som

RLMAN SUPER SCRIPT

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: RLMAN SUPER SCRIPT 2.3

Format: Win OS

Description: Small addon containing basic channel scanners (clones, stats), jokes & insults, popups for various servers and channels and a kick counter. The script is reasonably well stocked on documentation :) The author made a readme file and also included some instructions within the script. The script also seems to work reasonably well, however, there are some areas in the scripting and efficiency department that could be patched up a little bit. For example, it's very much discouraged to use "halt" in remotes since it will prevent further events of the same type from processing later on. It's not necessary to always have an "else" statement to accompany an "if". I would also suggest using local aliases and variables in some cases and it might also be slightly better to use "On *:EVENT:" instead of "On 1:EVENT:" among others. There is not much content, but it has a lot of simple features that people often look for. The author could use more experience and knowledge in the scripting department, but then

Random Colour- Split NC

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Random Colour- Split NC

Format: Win OS

Description: This is an average autocompleter with random colours and no options. You type the first few characters of the nick till no other nicks start with the same characters (this is to ensure the script doesn't get the wrong nick), then type : followed by a space and what you would like to say to that person (example to talk to BillGates you might try Bill: hello!). The autocompleter is NOT case-sensitive. It is the same as pressing the TAB button, however this addon puts in colours from 20 different 'styles' at random. Continuing on the example of BillGates, the script would produce something like this: +BillGates+ => hi. The first half of the nick is underlined and in a particular colour and the rest is not underlined and in a different colour. In the documentation the author says you need to press the TAB button after typing the first few characters. However, although the TAB would be quite useful in ensuring the script completes to the right nick, it is not needed. The script will not work if you

Random color nick changer

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Random color nick changer 1.1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to randomly change the colours of the all the people in the nicklist by pressing F4. You can set everything to black by pressing Shift+F4. The author seems to have taken several of my suggestions from the previous review to heart. He included some instructions on how to use the script On LOAD. There isn't a readme.txt included with the script, the addon being composed of simply the *.mrc file. The script works. However, the author should check the background colour of the nicklist and remove that number from the list of random colours to be used for the script. It's kind of hard to see a nick if it's the same colour as the background that it's on. The coding is acceptable, but could be improved. There's the use of slashes (which are always unnecessary and also "On 1:EVENT:" instead of "On *:EVENT:". Nice use of local variables. I really don't see the use of the script, but I suppose that some people would like it.
