IRCraft Away

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: IRCraft Away

Format: Win OS

Description: Away addon with options such as automatic nick changes (of your choice), auto-away, customizable away messages, silent or public mode, triggers (which are custom commands that you can chose to execute when you go away or come back), etc. The script does not have logging features at this time. There is a nice documentation file and the dialog windows are clean and easily understandable. You can reach the main one through various popup menus. However, the script does require you to load a total of 5 remote files, which I find to be a little bit excessive. I didn't run into any major problems while using the script, but I find that a few things could have been improved. Some commands (such as the timers) should have been silenced for instance. And while it was nice of the author to give a few examples for the triggers, they should not function when you go away/come back ... you have to manually remove them first. It's evident that the author put a lot of time and effort into this script. Promisin

Ignore Manager

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Ignore Manager 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that allows you to set your ignores through a dialog window instead of always remembering all the switches and typing out the hosts. Nice documentation file with setup instructions and a description of the script. There is also a trouble shooting section and some explanations of the various options of the mIRC ignore command. The script is easy to install and you can start ignoring people by using the popups in the nicklist and query sections. From what I can tell, the addon does appear to work alright. It also allows you to set ignores for a certain interval (the -u switch in the actual command). One of the biggest problems is that it relies on the IAL though. The author mentioned that turning the IAL on and then parting/rejoining the channel would fix certain problems, which is untrue. You actually have to perform a /who #channelname in order to update all the IAL entries. Perhaps he should think of a way to allow people to use the script without constantly relying on the IAL. *

Illumina Away System

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Illumina Away System 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Illumina Away System is meant to be a 'simple away system' that is popups-oriented. It provides simple away features and functions. No fancy stuff here, just something for the simple irc'er. I found the readme file to be ok and informative enough. There aren't many options in the addon, so it's no surprise that the readme file is short. It explained the useage of the addon well enough, and was able to explain how to get you on your way. The addon works fine, for what it does. It is very simple, and it even allows you the option of logging all messages that you receive while you are away. It's colors are not customizable, but they are perfect for newbies on mIRC, since most new users keep the default mIRC settings for background/foreground colors. There were, however, a few minor bug/error problems with this addon... Upon trying to go away without being on a server, I get this error: * /quote: not connected to server (line 35, illumina-awaysys.mrc). If I am not on any channels upon trying to go

Import Server

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Import Server 1.1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script to add servers from the network that you are currently on (retrieved with /links) to the servers.ini file if they don't already exist. Has a nice documentation file which is also available at the very top of the remote file (commented out). Works very well ... the only slight bug I could find was that the script didn't do anything if you don't have a file called servers.ini. But besides that, everything worked great. Nice and efficient coding. Comes recommended.

InZane PollBot

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: InZane PollBot 1

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon script that works as a polling booth. You can have several polls running at the same time. Everytime that you add a poll, you also have to add options for the poll. So if you had a question, you could add "yes" and "no" as two different "options" of the poll. The author included a readme file with installation instructions, contact information, disclaimer and description of the script. Unfortunately, he did not provide more documentation on just how to use the script. For instance, you can get the list of commands that are available to you through the bot by msg'ing it with "!pcommands". For the actual administrator of the poll, the entire thing is fairly easy to manipulate through the channel, menubar and query popups. The addon allows you to give several people "admin" level access to the script, which basically means that they can add/remove polls. However, the admins are recognized through nicks, so its not exactly very flexible. The entire script does work from what I could tell. Th
