What's Its Status?

The Game

Finally, the game itself has been fully designed, and actual development of it can actually start (which it has :). There is a LOT to the game, and it is highly-detailed - but so much that it isn't playable; and you don't need to read the manual :).

There are design-stage pictures available for viewing. Most of them are self-explanitory. The picture links are now fixed.

I have had many e-mails from people who want to see screenshots of the game. Don't we all? There is currently a "graphics crisis" at the moment, which has probably something to do with our artist being in America, and everyone else is based in the UK. He is trying as best as he can to get over to the UK, but this could take weeks or even months.

The reason of why it is taking so long is because of this. Etherius is perfectly capable - just look at these images! - and up to the job, but since he is thousands of miles away from the rest of us, the ideas don't seem to get across the world as quickly as they are supposed to.

If you have any suggestions on how to remidy this problem, don't hesitate to e-mail Oondy (all graphics artist applications must be from the UK, as I will want to speak to you over the phone - you will be expected to be able to work with Etherius, be very original in creativity, and have some experience in computer game artwork (familiar with tiles, 8x8 animations, restricted colour palettes, etc.)).

Control Centre

It's going from strength to strength! Just look at this list of new features currently being added to it: For those that don't already know, the CC is now at beta release 1a. This is almost the same as beta 1, but it has full English documentation - know you can know how to work it properly! :) Maybe releasing it originally without docs was a bad idea, but it seemed to get in some registrations anyway ;).

You can download the Control Centre so you can see how FUBAR will take shape. Note that it is BETA software, and may have many bugs in it, but not that many (mostly GUI bugs that should be ironed out with Triton).

It is distributed as freeware, but requires a keyfile to be able to save. This is because I want people to register with me so I can keep track on its progress. Don't worry, registering is free. When you are registered, you are expected to report bugs - that's the whole idea of beta software. Support us, and we support you, as the saying goes.

You can register by filling in this form and e-mailing it to Oondy at oondy@nildram.co.uk. More details are found on that page.

Beta release 2 should be available within 2-3 weeks (Oondy has some exams coming up shortly.. only two, though, which are COBOL (ha ha!) and Low Level Programming (with a 6502 - ha ha!)).

Don't forget - we're looking for a publisher! :)
