But... but we were in Toulouse, France, at VIScorp Conference, and we have to say that what we've seen is not very promising.
During Developers Conference, we understood that VIScopr don't seem to be intentioned to take Amiga OS to PPC, furthermore, they are thinking about a multi-processor machine, 040 and 060 based. It is a good choice, if you consider that VIScorp are more interested in their Set-Top-Box rather than in developing new machines, even more powerful. The problem is that a today Amiga can be put on our TV-set without any problem, becoming a great tool for TV-i, Video On Demand, Internet and any other thing you want to put inside.
During the Conference VIScorp continued pointing our attention on their Set-Top-Box wonders about what this "thing" can do now and what this "thing" will be able to do in the future.
The problem was that we are not in America, this is Europe and in Europe Amiga users love to write code for their machine and not just use it to broswe Internet or play poker.
And VIScorp faced this reality, in a very hard way, during developer's conference.
Carl Sassenrath said to keep the faith, that this's for the better... personally I just doubt a bit, and I am looking with greater hopes to parallel productions, such as the PPC-based machine created by Phase5.
At the moment, VIScorp is not very thrustly... we hope we can change our mind in the future... we hope VIScorp will maintain their promises and will continue developing Amiga. If it won't be so, we just do not mind: Amiga's horizon has a lot of other roads already opened... we have just to choose.
