Font Machine - A Program By ClassX

Amiga incredible power and flexibility is one of its most exalting features. The "text mode" does not exist on Amiga: everything which appears on video, even Shell chars, is graphic element. A natural evolution of these "flat" and monochromatic chars, is the born of Color Fonts, which Amiga handles perfectly making our Web pages, video titling and the creation of our demo or simple images more pretty.

Up to date, creating Color Fonts was a hard task: you could do this using Cloanto Personal Fonts (a program with an interface and an overall layout old of about seven years) or using public domain software.

Now ClassX, a software house from Pisa, gives us this little tool: a professional high level performance product, which allows us Color Fonts creation with few (and simple) clicks of the mouse.

The Font Machine basic theory is very simple: a Color Font can be gained working on a monochrome Font. Font Machine executes this with different and efficient methods: you can "map" on a font a graphic pic, or create maths patterns directly inside Font Machine. You can also create a shadow and a 3D effect to the font, very similar to the one you can obtain using programs such as Scala Multimedia.

The most of program's functions are asyncronous: it is possible to modify chars' parameters on the fly and to see immediately results on the Font... while program is generating Fonts, you can already modify the values again.

Interface is simply and easy to use (I have fully used the program without reading the manual) and it will not take more than five minutes to start producing original, attractive and always different Fonts.

Manual is complete and even too simple: it also describes what is a gadget or a slider... an usual Amiga user should know those things! This, anyway, shows the incredible care for the manual creation.

In a deeper exam, Font Machine behaved perfectly: it does not generate Enforcer's hits, it is stable even with MungWall and generates Fonts that, loaded up with various DTP and gfx programs, were perfect.

Finally, Font Machine is an easy to use, complete, stable and highly professional program... and it is even funny to use!

Personally, I do suggest it to anyone of you who enjoys graphic or uses Amiga professionally (for example, creating video titles).
