THE COACH
Henri Michel
A former French international who took over in October 1995 after a coaching career in Europe and Africa. Michel was capped 58 times and spent his entire playing career with Nantes, winning three championships and the French Cup. Michel coached France at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and oversaw Cameroon's disastrous campaign at USA 94.

Italian-based central defender. Recently recalled by Michel, he could play a major role in the World Cup.

Not to be confused with the fallen trip-hop artist from Bristol, this one's a reserve who played in all three of Morocco's games at USA 94, but hasn't been able to establish himself in the national side. Rachid Azzouzi
Useful operator on the right. Fast approaching veteran status after appearances at the African Nations Cup and the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and USA 94. Born in Germany to Moroccan parents and has spent his entire playing career there.

Promising German-based youngster recently unearthed by Michel.

Said Chiba
Another of the squad's Spanish-based contingent. Has been in and out of the side since making his debut in 1991, and is a possible starter in France. Had a spell in Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal, before his move to Spain.

Youssef Chippo
First came to prominence at the 1992 Olympics and is now a regular on the left of midfield. Is now starring for Portuguese champions Porto after a spell in the Middle East with Al Arabi of Qatar.

Mustapha Hadji
