Composing a New Message

Compose Message using External Editor
Text Gadget Docs and short keys

How to Compose a complete message

To compose a new message you will need to add recipient(s) to your message, a subject describing your message and optionaly any attachments and the body of the message.

To add a recipient(s) click on the TO: CC: button. This will open the Recipient window. Note that the Attach button is the same as clicking on the TO: CC: button.

Once you have added recipient(s) to your message you need to type in the subject of the message. Click on the string gadget besides the Subject: text and enter the message subject.

Next press the TAB key to move the cursor down to the textfield gadget and type the body of the message. When you are done composing your message you can select Queue to queue the message in the Out Box or select the Send button to send the message right of way.

Note: Do not Queue or Send an incomplete message. Incomplete message is when there is no recipient. You need atleast one recipient.

Buttons

UUEncode - When the window is opened this Cycle button defaults to the method of decoding in the preference. You can change the file encoding method by cycling the gadget. This will not affect the preference encoding setting.

Sig On - This button allows you to turn Signature On and Off. If On and when you select Send, Air Mail will send your signature. If Off then Air Mail will not send your signature. This feature only works with the Send button and the setting is not saved if you Queue the message. The default for this button is Sig On.

Recpt Off - If you required an receipt when the user receives your message then select Recpt On and select Recpt Off if you don't want a receipt. When the user receives your message Air Mail will send you a receipt. This is only a receipt and does not mean the user has read your message.

Save - Opens the ASL file requester and asks for a file name to be saved. The file is saved in ASCII format.

Print - Prints the current message to the printer.

Attach - Opens the Recipient window.

Queue - Queue the message in the Out Box and will not send it. You will need to open the Out Box to do the sending. This feature is useful for batch mail sending. The window is closed after the message is Queued.

Send - Send the message now. You must be connected to the mail server if you are not connected the message is queued in Out Box.
