============================== FLORIDA ============================== THE main place for the UK tourist in the 1990`s has to be Disneyworld, Orlando, Florida. Disneyworld and its attendant theme areas is now the greatest crowd puller in the world. Florida is quickly becoming a state of theme leisure parks. Sights to see in Florida are: Disneyworld Orlando (The Magic Kingdom) Circus World Kennedy Space centre Daytona Beach Busch Gardens Sea World Epcot Centre Cypress Gardens amongst others .... A good idea for Florida holidays is the two centre option, with a week in Orlando at Disney coupled with a weeks beach holiday, the best of which is a week in the Tampa Bay area. Entrance to Disney for a family of four averages about $100 a day and three and five day passes can be purchased. «»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«» Foreign Office Advice: Around 800,000 British tourists visit each year. The vast majority of encounter no difficulty. But visitor should be aware that there have been murders of tourists of various nationalities in the past year, and take the following precautions; 1) Do not pick up the hire car at the airport at night. Take a taxi to the hotel. Collect the car in town the next day. 2) If collecting the car at the airport in daylight, make sure you get good maps and clear directions from the rental company. Stay on main highways. Use well lit car parks. The presence of a single attendant is unlikely to help in an emergency. 3) Miami police advice is not to stop if your car is bumped from behind but to indicate to the other driver to follow you. Drive to the nearest public area, hotel or busy shopping precinct and call for police assistance. 4) Be vigilant at all times. Be on the look-out for suspicious persons when returning to your car or hotel especially at night. Seek help as soon as you feel threatened. Always err on the side of caution. 5) Use proper, organised accommodation. Do not sleep in your car particularly in rest areas on highways or in isolated areas. If camping, check on camp-site security arrangements. If not adequate, do not stay there. 6) Carry the minimum of cash when moving around. Leave valuables in the hotel. 7) The Florida authorities provide advice on routes to take and the locations of guarded rest areas etc. on Freephone 1 800 342 7768 For more information ring: Foreign Office Travel Unit 0171-270-4129
