============================== MALTA ============================== Malta, a small republic in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, lies just south of Sicily. It comprises three islands, Malta, Gozo and Comino, which are made up of low limestone plateaux with little surface water. The climate is Mediterranean. Malta is virtually self- sufficient in agricultural products and exports potatoes, vegetables, wine and cut flowers. Commercial shipbuilding and repairing is one of the leading industries.
