============================== CZECH REPUBLIC ============================== The Czech Republic was newly constituted on January 1, 1993, with the dissolution of the 74-year-old federal republic of Czechoslovakia that it had previously formed with Slovakia. It is a landlocked country at the heart of central Europe. Natural boundaries are the Sudeten Mountains in the north, the Ore Mountains to the northwest, and the Bohemian Forest in the southwest. The climate is humid continental with warm summers and cold winters. Agriculture is highly developed and efficient. Major crops are sugar beet, wheat and potatoes.
