The security situation in Yemen is continuing to improve but in Aden and other parts of the country namely the Yemeni/Saudi border (which should be avoided) there is potential instability. Armed theft of vehicles is not uncommon. Travellers should be vigilant. Medical facilities throughout the country are poor. In Aden and areas of Southern Yemen communications facilities, water services and infrastructure damaged in the civil war have yet to be repaired. There remains some danger from land mines laid during the civil war in the southern and eastern governorates. Off road travel is not recommended. All travellers should register with the British Embassy in Sana'a (Tel: 215630/3) or at the British Consulate in Aden (Tel: 232712). For more information ring: Foreign Office Travel Unit 0171-270-4129
