============================== ZIMBABWE ============================== Zimbabwe, landlocked, in southern Africa, is a country with spectacular physical features and is teeming with wildlife. It is bordered in the north by the Zambezi river, which flows over the mile-wide Victoria Falls before entering Lake Kariba. In the south, the River Limpopo marks its border with South Africa. A great plateau between 1200m and 1500m high occupies the central area. Massive granite outcrops, called kopjes, also dot the landscape. The climate is tropical in the lowlands and subtropical in the higher land. About 75% of the labour force are employed in agriculture. Medical facilities are restricted and communications difficult outside the urban areas. Emergency services can only provide limited help in an emergency. The number of incidents of mugging, pickpocketing and personal assault during vehicle break-ins has increased in urban and tourist centres.
