============================== SIERRA LEONE ============================== Sierra Leone, on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, consists of wide swampy forested coastal plains that rise to a mountainous plateau in the east. The climate is tropical. The main food of Sierra Leoneans is rice, and this is grown in the swamplands at the coast. On the plateau, much forest has been cleared for growing groundnuts. Most of the country's revenue comes from mining. Diamonds are panned from the rivers, and there are deposits of iron ore, bauxite, rutile and some gold. Area (Sq.
