============================== MOZAMBIQUE ============================== Mozambique is a republic located in southeast Africa. The Zambezi river separates the high plateaux in the north from the coastal lowlands in the south. The country has a humid tropical climate. Normally, conditions are reasonably good for agriculture, but a drought in the early 1980s followed a few years later by severe flooding resulted in famine and more than 100,000 deaths. A lot of industry was abandoned when the Portuguese left the country in 1975. There is little incentive to produce surplus agricultural products for cash, and food rationing has now been introduced. A black market accounts for a sizable part of the economy. Area (Sq.
