============================== BURKINA FASO ============================== Burkina, a landlocked state in West Africa, on the southern fringe of the Sahara Desert, is made up of vast monotonous plains and low hills. Precipitation is generally low, the heaviest rain falling in the southwest, while the rest of the country is semi- desert. About 90% of the people live by farming, and food crops include sorghum, beans and maize.
