This is an Imagine object of a Tie Interceptor, the attack ships used by the Empire in Return of the Jedi. The ship is designed, in most respects, to the original Tie Fighter. However, the "wings" have been modified, giving it a more streamline look. The object was modelled from a $12.00 model set produced by MPC ERTL. Since there was no scale documented with the model, I had to create one myself. Thus, 1 millimeter of the model equals 1 unit in Imagine. I have seen several Imagine objects in the Star Wars theme, but none impressed me; mostly, they were very basic and had little or no detail. This created problems for me, since I need enough detail for close-passes in my animations while keeping rendering time under an eternity...I compromised. The object contains enough detail to impress people yet doesn't take forever to render. In addition, I searched through my collection of objects and used a very simple humanoid object as a pilot. The object is stored as a group. The reason is twofold: First, if you want to experiment, simply ungroup the object and modify the colours/textures of the individual parts. Second, if you want to use Imagine's Fireworks(explode) feature, the effect is great if you explode the individual parts instead of the object as a whole. The object is freeware. You may do with it what you want in terms of altering it and using it, as long as I am given credit for the many hours of work I put into creating the object. However, I would like to hear from some of you who like and/or use the object. Send me a postcard or a disk containing something you have created (an object, or an animation even).
