Doctor Strange 2 ---------------- (c) 1995 The Ouija Board Programming by Ian West. Graphics and Some Music by Jonathan Eggelton. This game and its code should be used in accordance with the Usage Agreement found on this disk. Storyline --------- While away on business, Doctor Strange left Igor in charge - what a fool. As soon as Doctor Strange had left the castle Igor rushed to his organ and began playing. Seconds turned into Minutes and Minutes into Hours as Igor forgot his chores and played a melodious tune which echoed throughout the castle. Deep in the castle’s vaults the Doctor’s creations stirred. Lured from sleep by the music but mainly just plain old hunger. They soon discovered none was to be found and howling in anger they burst from their cages and rampaged throughout the castle. Upon his return, Doctor Strange discovered his castle in chaos. Machines destroyed and creatures running without and within. Grabbing his splurge gun he set out to capture as many creatures as he could and collect up the fragments of his shattered machines. TROUBLESHOOTING If the game fails to run properly try switching off all attached devices, e.g. external drives. Users with Hard Disks should try running the game from floppy and switching off any active partitions. Gameplay -------- Control Doctor Strange as he leaps and bounds around a platform arena of monsters and objects. Contact with any monsters or hazards, such as spikes, will result in the death of Doctor Strange, so these must be avoided at all costs. Each section of the game consists of five levels, the objective of each level being to find the exit and leave by it. On some levels the exit will be obvious but on others it will be less obvious. Upon reaching the end of a section you will be rewarded for your efforts with bonuses based on what you collected and how many lives Doctor Strange has left. Controls -------- Doctor Strange is controlled using a joystick. The joystick affects Doctor Strange in the following way: Left/Right Move Left/Right Pushing Up Jump Pulling Down Pull Switch Enter Doorway Fire Fire Splurge Gun The following keys also have an effect: H Hold Game Escape End Game Attract Screens --------------- Once the game has loaded, and the credit screen has disappeared the attract sequence will start. This cycles through a demo amongst other attract screens. Pressing fire will start the game. If this just returns you to the initial screen press fire again. Section Codes ------------- Each section has its own code which appears at the start of it. This code consists of four creatures from the Doctor Strange 2 game. By writing this code down and entering it before play you start at the beginning of that section. Pressing L from the initial screen will allow you to enter a section code. Once the Section Code Entry screen appears, pressing Up/Down on the joystick will cycle through the different monsters. Pressing fire will move onto the next part of the code. Once you have moved on you cannot go back to the previous part of the code. Once the whole code has been entered you will get a message telling you whether the code is valid or not. If it is not valid the game will return to the initial screen and by pressing L you may retry to enter the code. If the code is valid then the game will start from the specified level. Objects ------- Collecting/touching objects may result in platforms appearing/disappearing but will always result in more points. Machine Parts - Collecting these forms a picture of Doctor Strange on the control panel. Quite why I do not know, but he looks good in it. Poison - Touching a poison bottle will result in Doctor Strange being stunned for a few seconds. Cage Doors - Touching a cage door will slam it shut giving you loads of extra points. Others - Other objects will be scattered around the dungeon. Switches - Pulling a switch by pressing down on the joystick will activate/deactivate it. Stunned Monsters - Monsters stunned by Doctor Strange’s splurge gun can be collected for bonuses points and a farting sound. Hints and Tips -------------- Look for secret ways. Not all walls may be as solid as they seem. The game is full of leaps and jumps of faith. But look closely, all leaps will have an indication of what is at the bottom and if they have not then they will probably be non-lethal. Do not stand around waiting for something to happen. The clock is ticking so pause the game and stand around.
