PHOTO TECHNIQUES This program consists of a number of short modules that make suggestions for how to achieve certain photographic effects other than straight camera work. Each page can be accesses directly from the menu page, or it is possible to go from page to page in forward or reverse directions. All text files NOT directly associate with a graphics screen can be printed out with the need to use a file manager. Simply switch on and load paper to the printer. At the prompt, which occurs after the loading of the last section of text in each section, press the indicated key and the text that you have just been reading will be sent to the printer. The sound and music functions can be turned on or off at any time from the menu page. THE CAMERA... To achieve many of the techniques outlined here, a Single Lens Reflex camera is required. It is very likely that, if you are looking at this, that you own one, or intend to buy one. The ability to do more than just point an automatic camera at a scene and press the button is what photography is all about. If simply family records are all that are required - so be it - there is nothing wrong in that. But study this tutorial, and you can achieve much more. Other disks in the series explain these, and other techniques in greater detail - so have a look if your interest is kindled. THE AUTHOR... Briefly, I learnt my photography on a semi-pro basis many years ago - in the very early 1960's - as part of my training to be a Metallurgists. I used cameras from 35 mm. to 5X4 inch plates, and was taught associated darkroom techniques. Years in camera clubs followed, with periods as a judge and lecturer in more recent times. I now act more as a freelance, sending work to magazines and photo libraries. Whilst I cannot guarantee anything in these tutorials, I can say that everything mentioned has been used by myself, unless otherwise stated, and 'worked for me'. You should treat this information as a guide to developing your own techniques. All pictures, other than that on the title screen, were taken by the author and digitised using a VIDI-Amiga. The author can accept no responsibility for any harm or damage caused in any way by the use of this program. Paul Broadbent 12, Hilltop Ave. Scunthorpe, South Humberside. DN15 8LD
