VI and V2 Rockets

In 1943/44 the Germans, working at Peenemunde, succesfully dveloped the
first rockets as weapons of war. Codenamed V1 and V2 ("revenge weapons")
they were fired in great numbers at London and also after D-Day at Antwerp
and other European ports. They entered the war too late and in too small
numbers to actively effect it's outcome, however many German rocket
scientists from the V-weapons programme emigrated to the U.S, laying the
American Space programme.
