USSR EXPLODES ATOM BOMB

The Americans were astounded when the Russians tested their first nuclear
weapons and the "Cold war" reached a new level of severity with nuclear war
and global devestation always a possibility. Many of the techniques the
Russians used were stolen by Russian spies and/or American traitors between
1945 and 1948.
