PHOENICIANS IMPORT TIN FROM BRITAIN The Phonecians emenating from the middle-east trading cities of Tyre and Sidon (modern Lebanon/Palestine area) spread throughout the Mediterranean founding trading cities and posts in many differing lands. Carthage in North Africa and Nova Cartago in Spain were two leading Phonecian settle- ments. they reached Britain prior to 1000BC and traded in tin, jade and other items. They may have even sailed far into the Atlantic, but evidence is scanty.
