LEAGUE OF NATIONS

International Organisation for the preventiojn of War set up in 1920 with
headquarters in Geneva, but superseded by the UN in 1945. Although succesful
in the humanitarian field it was hampered by international rivalries and in
the end was uneffective in preventing armed conflict across the world.
