THE IRON AGE
                             
Around 1000BC the Bronze Age ended. Defined as a time when mankind gradually
replaced the use of bronze in making weapons and artifacts with the much
tougher iron. Tribes armed with iron weapons quickly vanquished bronze
age peoples - and the smelting and extraction of iron was spread and
perfected throughout the ancient world through the following centuries.
